Inspiration, Perspiration, Healthy Living: Story of a Pre-Med

By Linda | February 16, 2012

I met a special young woman, Benita Lupu, in 2000. Her story is important. I have the privilege of being part of her life. I also love her products and have given many appreciated gifts from her collection.I hope she inspires you as she has me. Linda Brodsky.

John F Kennedy once said, “Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose & direction.” In my short life I have come to realized that no journey is traveled with a promise in knowing where the end shall lead. Although the end may not always be in visible sight, knowing that it does in fact exist gives me the strength to reach my destination. Every trial, tribulation, and victory amasses into part of the magnificent outcome.

I want to become a pediatric cardiologist.I want to start a health clinic for children and families who may not be able to afford medical care. My inspiration? My father, Dr. Marian Florentine Lupu M.D.I will never forget his actions or his words.

In 1976, my father immigrated to the States with my oldest sister and my mother to start his career as a physician, all over again. He practiced in the city in Buffalo. Walk-ins were a normal, everyday occurrence. Many would “forget” their insurance cards. Knowing very well that they were not insured at all, these were my father’s words, “Don’t worry about it, just bring it next time or the big guy will get me for it.” One day I asked him, “But Dad how do you see them if they do not have their card?” He said to me, “Benita, you must always think of this, pointing to his heart, and this, pointing to his mind, before you think of this,” rubbing his fingers together. I have never forgotten his words and vow to carry on his philosophy.

My father lived a magnificent life. And then he suddenly died from heart disease in 2000.

Getting to medical school is not easy.I work a full time job and have another business on the side.I have graduated college and I am finishing my final prerequisites for medical school. I want to get experience working in medical clinics. My plan is also to spend time in research so I have experience there as well.

Through my independent business, I represent award winning products that customers can buy to live healthy, look great, and be kind to the planet.I also network and help other entrepreneurs launch their own businesses. My knowledge of the health field helps me to guide others to make better decisions about their lifestyle and healthy products.I truly believe that preventative measures now mean a healthier life later.

I started my business to create a stable income that will go towards financing my medical education.Although it was really hard to think I had to do this on my own, I have learned how to apply my healthy living business principles to the life I want to live as a doctor.Helping people live healthier, better lives.Helping my friends and others become entrepreneurs so they can live their dream lives makes it a whole lot easier.

Every flower starts as a seed.As it is nurtured, trimmed, and watered, it becomes its own unique beautiful self. My dreams are the seeds that are growing, developing, and blossoming. Although winds may blow, and waters may rise, when the desire is strong enough, the stormy weather does not count. When you are doing something that you love, all trials and tribulations are surmountable. With the right nutrients, support, and structure, one day I will be able to serve others and create a garden of asset to humanity. This garden will grow and bring out the beauty in helping others so that they may benefit from its message to the fullest extent.

Ms. Benita. I am on my 2nd year of premed and your article really inspired me to keep on working for my dreams to come true. I know it’s a long way out there but I believe that God would help me reach for it. :)
