From Competition to Collaboration to Compassion—Kimber Lim’s Vision for the Women of the 21st Century

By now, are you intrigued? Or maybe skeptical? You might have googled Kimber Lim. Lots of stuff pops up. What she does, what she says, who she hangs with. But what you won’t find are the thousands of women with whom she has connected, coached and brought the tools and the confidence to transform their dreams into viable, successful businesses.

And what her next project is.

From over 25 years in the “biz” she has made many wonderful contacts and flies with women who have created great successes—Sandra Yancey, promoting women’s businesses through networking and social media, Barbara Niven, motivational speaker, actress and a woman living her dreams, Andrea Herz Payne, founder of Aid Still Required and Dr. Jean Shinoda Bolen, activist, Jungian analyst and prolific author—start with this post. These women have shared their expertise to make each of us better prepared to make it in the world, and for us to give back some more. Famous or not Kimber’s reach has only just begun.

From all these years of connecting and sharing, Kimber has found a purpose, grown a new model and formed a new vision. A new way to do business. Think collaborative, not competitive. Think women helping each other—if you climb up, then pull the next one up. Everyone ascends together, because together we are stronger, more effective and have the time and resources to not only help each other but also help those who cannot help themselves.

Why women? It is almost impossible for women to ignore a starving child, one sold into the sex trade, one who has been cast off because he or she is just one too many for a family that no longer exists. And business collaboration must also lead to puposeful philanthropy. Build business opportunities so the 50% of women in the world who live in poverty can pull themselves up as well.

“How can any of us fully enjoy our lives or our financial success while other women and children are not taken care of? It breaks my heart that we are in a world that does not honor human rights for women and children, equality, medical, education, and in fact does not realize that the only way for change to happen is to reach out and give to each other the opportunity for economic freedom. It’s not enough to feel sad, or give some money. We have to act. We are women, and we can do this.“

Kimber Lim envisions a world of “we” and a world that simply will not find its ultimate freedom and happiness until we learn from the women how to make our own success and also to bring others up and out of poverty and servitude.

“The largest business on the planet is the harvesting and trafficking of women and children. Can we close our eyes? So for me having financial success is not enough; it won’t deliver the life we think we all crave. “

Kimber is a demonstration that thriving means principled humanitarian leadership through the practice of a collaborative, non-competitive business model. She not only believes, but also practices that as we end of competition, replace it with collaboration, we will take the first step into the journey into freedom and wealth.

This journey into full freedom and wealth starts with the women. Most women naturally collaborate, communicate, commiserate, and compassionately hold ideals for one another.

“We need to think way farther than our own affairs, our own immediate concerns. We all gain. Gathering business, advocacy, motivational women leaders will lead to greater wealth (financial, emotional, social) in so many arenas that matter, especially those to save the women and children and put them into their rightful place in this world. We are the leaders the world has waited for.”

It was and never will be about only the money or short term success. It’s about pulling up one woman at a time who is going to commit to change that is sustainable, positive and forceful. It’s what we have to do. It is what women do best.

Still skeptical? You are allowed. One or two short posts on a visionary, whom I have grown to know over the last year, might not (yet) rock your world. But if you are even a teeny-weeny bit interested in the types of people she is looking for to make this vision a reality, join Get Your Woman On. And, of course, make sure you read Kimber’s book—our book—Get Your Woman On! Forty visionary women brought together to tell their stories with words, audio and video—both print and on-line versions available. (Mine is in there, too.) Release date—June, 2011. Stay tuned.

Collaboration is natural. Helping each other is rewarding and completely natural. How wonderful it is to notice that offering a hand to those in need is totally natural for all of us and keeps us connected to the real reason why we are here. Kimber’s intention of helping women and children thrive in the world is something I’m passionate about– and believe that many others are too whom dont yet know where to share that passion. Here’s the chance! Thanks Linda for posting the opportunity to show us where the ACTION IS! We can change our world by connecting for collaboration.

    God bless you Linda,

Thank you for this wonderful blog post. After meeting Kimber for the first time last Summer, I immediately recognized what a jewel and joy Kimber is. We connected immediately and I am delighted to not only call her my friend, but also my sister. I pray for Kimber’s success in all she does–she is truly a phenomenal woman. Kimber has a true love for women and children; and she has a sincere desire to help others achieve their goals. My prayer is that Kimber is continuously blessed for her desire to uplift and inspire women and children globally.

    Blessings,
    Dr. Emma Jean Thompson

WOW back to all of you! We are very lucky to have found someone to push and prod us as a herd of women (I almost said cats, but that wouldn’t be PC) who have a vision and a whole bunch of different missions, but all with the same cause–to make a difference, to have fun and to be a success. And while doing so, as we move up, we pull up, one wonderful woman at a time.
Cannot wait until Dallas!!! ( I really had to finagle my schedule, but I will be there!)
